Meet Jean
Jean loved her little yard. She planted trees with shiny leaves and tiny berries. She dreamed the berries would feed the birds—tweet, peep, flutter!—every morning.
Bird Breakfast
Every sunrise, little birds landed—tap, tap, tap!—and pecked the berries. Jean clapped softly, happy as sunshine.
Mischief in the Morning
Bartimus zipped up the trunk—zoop!—and stuffed his cheeks like two tiny backpacks. Jean sighed. The birds chirped, "Hey! Save some!"
A New Idea
Jean thought and thought. Then—ding!—she filled a bright little bowl with berries and set it on a stump.
"Birds here, squirrel there," she said. "Plenty to share!"
Happy Garden, Happy Hearts
Bartimus munched from his bowl. The birds pecked the tree. Jean watched, giggling at Bartimus's purple mustache.
Now every morning, the garden sings: tweet, peep, chomp, giggle!
The End.
